Lift Station 6 Wastewater Improvements
Construction will begin in August 2020 to install more than a mile of city wastewater pipeline east of Orlando Avenue.
The 11-month project will use directional boring to install pipeline up to 10 feet below the ground surface utilizing different digging locations along the route. This will minimize impacts to roadways, sidewalks and properties. Wastewater service will not be disrupted.
Vehicle traffic will be detoured on certain city streets. Intermittent single lane closures also are planned on northbound Orlando Avenue between Magnolia Road and Manor Road. One of two entrances to Fort Maitland Park will be temporarily closed. Work will start at a city wastewater lift station north of Magnolia and run north along Orlando Avenue before turning east on Manor. Pipes will be installed underneath Live Oak Street, East Ventris Avenue, East Packwood Avenue, Swoope Avenue and George Avenue before connecting with another lift station.
Some sections of city streets will be rebuilt. Construction areas will be clearly marked, and most work will be conducted weekdays. Most of the wastewater improvements are scheduled during separate projects to install potable water pipelines along Orlando Avenue. Motorists and pedestrians should use extra caution and follow posted signs.
