Dommerich Hills

Many of the homes in Dommerich Hills were built with septic tanks in the 1960s. Homeowners asked to join the city of Maitland in 1999, and the annexation was approved by voters in 2002. The goal was to provide important municipal services and to begin planning for community improvements such as central sewer service.

Central Sewer Service

The City of Maitland is part of the South Seminole and North Orange County Wastewater Transmission Authority, which was created in 1978 to provide regional wastewater service for this growing part of Central Florida. The Authority serves 60 square miles with transmission systems in Seminole and Orange counties as well as the cities of Casselberry, Winter Park, and Maitland.

Lift Station 1 - located on Deloraine Trail inside the Dommerich Hills neighborhood - was originally built in 1962 and remains an essential part of the citywide wastewater system in Maitland. Planning for a much-needed upgrade to the lift station started more than a decade ago. In 2005, the city purchased land on Tuscarora Trail for a replacement facility.

Design of the replacement lift station began four years ago. Preliminary construction for the lift station will begin in September 2021. Extension of wastewater pipelines to the first phase of homes in Dommerich Hills also is expected to begin in September.

The first phase of construction will conclude in March 2023.
